I had a skin allergy test come back and say I was mildly allergic to wheat, i am pretty upset cause i dont have the funds to go out and buy these gluten free products that cost a lot of money.
i am also allergic to corn, possibly rice not sure yet, pork, tomatoes, nuts.
anyone eles mildly allergic to wheat? what are your symptoms, and do you ever eat wheat anyway?

Is there any real way to tell if I have celiacs disease, or just a wheat allergy?
I had a blood test that came up negative for celiacs, but I know that’s not reliable (especially since I had been totally gluten free when I had the test done, and I heard you need to eat a lot of gluten before it, or it’ll register nothing anyway…).

I also heard there’s another *horrible* test that can be taken which is pretty much infallible, but I don’t think I want to go through it.

I know that I feel a lot better when I am wheat/gluten free, and I have been for about a year now.
But I don’t actually know if gluten is the problem, or just wheat (if I could eat barley, that would make things so much easier!).

I know some people might just say “experiment and see what happens” but I really don’t want to risk that. I lived with *horrible* mental problems (moreso than the stomach problems – they were there, but not as bad) and I really don’t want to risk those coming back. The anxiety/depression was really bad, and I feel like I was practically schitzo, and I really don’t want to risk that coming back even for a day.

At any rate, I just find it really difficult and expensive to follow a full gluten-free diet, and I’d like to be able to tell if it might just be wheat that’s the problem, and not gluten specifically.
Know what I mean? ^_^;

i do not mean a wheat ALLERGY… i mean an INTOLERANCE… not where your throat closes up and you cant breathe or you get hives… but where you get abdominal pain and diarrhea… i have been tested for celiac disease and the tests came out negative. but whenever i ate gluten i didn’t feel well… but i decided to test how i feel when i just don’t eat wheat and eat other things that do contain gluten (such as in oats and barley..) It has been 2 weeks now and i feel fine. but i am wondering if maybe that’s just because i am not eating a lot of gluten… or if it’s because i only have a wheat intolerance (but i’m not sure if there is even a such thing as just a wheat intolerance).

for a few months now I have been coughing up clear phlegm… It started getting worse with bigger chunks coming up and a constant feeling of phlegm in my throat with my nose feeling constantly stuffy. I always feel like I have to cough every 2 seconds and blow my nose. I had some kinesiology allergy tests done and it showed up that I was sensitive to wheat , dairy products & potatos. I was advised to go on a wheat & gluten free diet and cut out the dairy & potatos all together. I was just wondering if anyone else had a problem with phlegm and this sort of diet helped to shift it? Also in the morning my chest feels congested when I first wake up. I have mild asthma but the doctor’s are persistant in saying that this is not asthma related. I have even been told to come off my inhalers by the asthma clinic but I cannot seem to manage it. Replies will be appreciated.
p.s I have been to different doctors had 3 courses of antibiotics and it did not lift. The phlegm is clear so it is not an infection.

I probably should know this….is there wheat in oatmeal? I have child with a wheat/gluten allergy and I cannot determine is I can feed her oatmeal. I am fairly certain that pure oats do not contain wheat or gluten. Does anybody know for certain?

so i guess some of his friends were making fun of it asking him “so what do you do when you guys go out, like eat soymilk or something?? hahahha i heard she cant eat like anything” and laughing about it ad stuff. i have celiac, where i just cant have gluten, which is like wheat. its just like a wheat allergy. anyways, we never go out to eat, and i feel like he may be hesitant to go out to eat for his birthday in a few days.. we like never eat and stuff, just hang out after dinner or something. i guess he responded to that by like “umm we dont really go out to eat”. (i wasnt there, my friend was, who told me) i just dont want him to get teased about it or feel held back by me with it or whatever. they were really mean by saying that. and dont even know what theyre talking about. the only thing is it always seems like he doesnt like talking about it to me, and when i asked about this that i heard from my other friend, he really acted like nothing even happened and i dont know about it.

I have had ceoliac disease since i was 2years old. I have been ‘trained’ to avoid anything to do with wheat which is generally pretty easy to determine. I read an article somewhere which stated that although glucose syrup (from wheat) is saying it says it contains wheat, the glucose syrup is so highly processed that it actually does not contain gluten. Curious I asked my gastroentoroligist and he said that the article was right and I can have it without a reaction. This makes sense as most ‘no frills’ supermarket brands have now got an ‘allergy advice’ part on their label which say whther it has gluten and recently i was reading the ingredients on ice cream that said glucose syrup from wheat and yet in the allergy advice section it said that it only contained milk. Unfortunately, my ‘training’ refuses to allow my brain to believe that I can actually eat it despite it having wheat.. Just wanted to get some more answers on this interesting dillema.. Is it gluten free?

My mom just discovered she had an allergy to wheat and i was wondering if milk had wheat products or whatever. She’s on a WHEAT-free diet, not a gluten-free diet, according to her doctor, there’s a difference. I’ve heard all the stories that Wheat bread is healthier — but, there are people who have gluten allergies and so wheat bread is NOT healthy for them due to the barley. But what about white bread? Is enriched white flour so horrible?

I had a allergy test done and wheat (along with milk and egg whites) showed up as positive on the test. Since I had/have stomach bloating my doctor said to go off gluten/wheat and then reffered me to a allergy specialist. The skin test didn’t show any food allergies, but the doctor reccomended the celiac test. Before this I’d been on a gluten free died for a month with no difference in bloating. After eating the gluten for about five weeks, the symtoms – bloating- still the same, I took the test, with negative results…
What does it mean if the allergy shows up positive and then negative?
