She has watery bowls, skin irritation and gags within the hour after eating…no vomiting and not really fussy, could this be milk allergy??
No – probably not – but ask your doctor…
I have never heard of a baby being allergic to breastmilk. I suppose it could happen, but I have never heard of it.
I guess I think you should talk to your doctor. If your baby is allergic to breastmilk, then you are going to have a hard time finding a formula.
It sounds to me, though, like maybe your daughter has a virus of some sort. Especially if there is no vomiting.
If you are concerned, though, I would follow the stand-by: Take her to the doctor.
It’s unlikely your daughter is allergic to your breastmilk. That’s an extremely rare condition, and she wouldn’t have made it to 7 weeks alive if she were. She may be intolerant of something in your diet. Do you eat a lot of dairy? Spicy or gassy foods, caffeine and chocolate are all big ones to look at if your diet has a lot of those things.
If she has a milk allergy, formula is the last thing you want to give her. It’s purely milk-based, and will irritate her stomach even more if that’s what it is.

My daughter was actually allergic to my breast milk as a baby. I cut out everything from my diet and the doctors finally told me it was in fact an allergy to my breast milk. (She was severly allergic to everything) We tried her on several formulas but she was allergic to those as well. She ended up on Neocate a prescription formula and did much better. I know that the studies say that a baby cannot be allergic to their mothers breast milk but my daughter was. My suggestion is to see a pediatric GI doctor if you are really concerned about it. My son was having major skin problems and it was his formula, we put him on Nutramigen and his skin cleared up dramatically. Good luck and I hope she feels better really soon.
You need to be eliminating things from your diet. Eliminate dairy from your diet and see how it effects her–a milk allergy is not an allergy to breastmilk, but an allergy to dairy. I’d work on changing your own diet before changing hers.
my 9 week old son was having difficulty with my milk for about 4 weeks now. I elminated dairy from my diet and i think it has improved quite a bit. babies digestive systems are not yet developed so it may just be that but formula is harder to digest so if you switch it will be worse. The skin irritation is most likely caused by a product you are using. my little guy cant use a&d ointment, most baby washes and lotions (only aveno baby) or certain wipes. Huggies wipes make his little butt red. the pampers unscented wipes seem to work well. you have to just try things to see what works for your baby. good luck.
absoluetly not, dont believe it for a second, your baby may be reacting to something you’ve eaten, but not your milk, think about what you’ve eaten and try to figure out whats causing it, then cut it out of your diet. spicy foods or fizzy drinks can cause that. good luck, and dont quit, you’ve come 7 weeks, it would be such a shame to stop now. happy new year. x
Talk to your doctor and try different foods in your diet. I wouldn’t run to formula just yet but if you need to ask your doctor which would be best.
my son had an allergy to milk and his whole body was covered in an itchy rash and that is the only sign he had, we had to give him a soy formula. i do agree it is probably something you are eating. does your baby get sick everytime you feed or just certain times of the day. my sister had this same issue every morning with her daughter and it seemed to happen evertime she drank milk before feeding.
It is impossible for your child to be allergic to breast milk ,but something you have ate that goes into breast milk , yes a child can be allergic to . Milk and Breast milk or different . I would go talk to my Pediatric doctor and ask them to test for allergy’s they can do a blood test by finger prick and can tell everything you child is allergy to.That way you can decide if you want to continuing breast feeding or put your child on another source of milk such as soy based formula or even goat milk which is different in other ways.Wish you the best sometimes it’s hard to find a prefect formula .
“could this be milk allergy??”
To *your* milk? Very, very unlikely.
Switching to formula is the LAST thing I would want to do for a baby I thought was having digestive troubles. It is nowhere near as nutritous or easy to digest as breast milk.
But it’s unclear from your question that there’s really much wrong. Exclusively breastfed babies have very liquid poop. Newborns are prone to all manner of rashes &c.
Some good reading:

See your doctor. And don’t make any feeding decisions without consulting a certified lactation consultant — see http://www.kellymom.com/lcdirectory/inde...
ALL breastfed babies have “watery” bowels. Breastfed baby poop is liquid sometimes with some curds mixed in.
What kind of skin irritation? Have you eliminated all soaps, scents and changed detergents?
There is no way she is allergic to breastmilk, she could possible be allergic to some proteins from your diet that appear in breastmilk. But this doesn’t even sound like that at all. A baby suffers from allergies they are usually extremely fussy, have mucous in the stools and often blood, etc.

I think you should talk to your doctor first. Your doctor is the best person to asses whether your baby has an allergy and if so, what exactly she’s allergic to. If necessary, your doctor will also be the best person to recommend which type of formula is needed.
I mean, it’s your baby. Do you really want to do experiments on her?
