Advice on Allergy Confuses Parents
One in three parents find it difficult to find out how to fight allergies
Avoid rugs. They are just dust collectors.
Avoid wood flooring. The dust whirls around instead of staying in one place.
Both advice to prevent allergies exist. Like thousands of sites worldwide that are filled with more or less good advice on what to do if you want to help your children to avoid becoming one of the increasing number of allergy sufferers.
But some advice confuses more than it benefits, and every three toddlers parents think there are many conflicting advice.
“It may be difficult as allergic or parent to a child with an allergy to navigate through the many advice you get. Well-intentioned family members and friends do not hesitate to make suggestions about what to do. And on the Internet is a great deal of information too. Unfortunately, they are far from worthwhile all together, and some also obscured the fact that it is in fact talking about the sale of certain products”.
Check the sender
You as a parents should know where the advice comes from.
“‘And you are told that something works, then we must ask, how do you know that?. We can then consider whether we think it sounds unlikely”.
The many conflicting advice and confusion over them may be one of the reasons that few parents follow the advice that the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America provides.
»”We only provide information, that we are sure of scientific. There are no easy solutions, but we can still do some even to prevent allergies and make life easier for those who already suffer from it” the Foundation says and invites parents to contact the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America’s free advice.
How to fight you Allergy
• Air thoroughly with draft five-ten minutes three times a day, even in winter.
• Avoid products with perfume – also in detergents and body creams.
• Do not dry clothes indoors, unless it is in a dryer. Humidity increases the risk of fungus that can cause allergy.
• Do not smoke at home.
• Clean your home once a week. Remember roller mattresses, and wash them at least every two months. Wash quilts and pillows every three months.
